Monitoring and Management Schemes

With Hydraclean you are getting the very best expert technical and admin support to ensure your monitoring and management scheme enables your building to comply with the Water Supply Regulations 1999, and are designed and maintained in a manner that is in accordance with the Health And Safety at Work Act 1974 and the COSHH regulations 2002 relating to the risks from hazardous micro organisms, including Legionella and chemicals such as biocides and chlorine.

The Approved Code of Practice regarding Legionnaires‘ disease published by The Health and Safety Commission (L8) offers practical guidance on the standards that must be met in order to comply with the legal requirements for dealing with this risk.

The Code places responsibility on employers and others to:

  • Identify and assess source of risk
  • Prepare a scheme for preventing or controlling risk
  • Implementing and management of the scheme of precautions
  • Keep records of implemented precautions

We work extremely hard to ensure that the right maintenance schedule is rolled out to our clients in accordance with the HSE Guidance document ACoP L8 as what my be an acceptable level of compliance for a low risk site will almost certainly not be acceptable for a high risk site. We start by identifying the risk areas in the system and implement a program of refurbishment, upgrade or renewal, and subsequent system management. It is our objective to make sure that all water systems are in a safe and manageable state as well as maintained, cleansed, tested and pertinent.

Cleaning and Chlorination

We often take a clean water supply for granted, but how do we ensure its fresh and suitable for use?

Systems that are badly designed, operated at unsuitable temperatures or maybe in a poor state of general repair can become a breeding ground for a whole range of bacteria.

Some of the most notable consisting of:

  • E Coli
  • Coliforms
  • Total Viable Coliform Counts
  • Legionella Pneumophila

Within the system, dirt, scale and debris can act as a source of nutrients for the above bacteria’s and that’s why it essential that any remedial work out lined in the risk assessment are acted upon.

Hydraclean will make recommendations for any modifications and renovations needed to the services, which may be necessary in order to ensure regulatory compliance with the current guidelines.

Deep cleaning, tank chlorination and water chlorination of systems are the key fundamentals that can be used in ensuring that water systems remain clean and fit for use.

Hydraclean Ltd can carry these works out either as requested or on a regular planned maintenance basis, all works are carried out in strict accordance with BS 8558:2011. Certification is then issued upon completion to make for easy maintenance planning and evidence of action taken.
